Haldane UK, the market leaders for the manufacture and installation of timber handrails and stair components, have completed a fabulous spiral staircase in a luxury property in Scotland.

The staircase features a stunning 70 x 50mm profiled handrail finished in sapele with an array of specialist components that only Haldane can achieve.

Haldane’s expert machining skills manufactured transitions, wreaths, a horizontal to raking wreath and a wreathed volute which combined to create the stunning feature staircase in the converted steading.

Forrester Adam, Haldane’s Managing Director, said “We have established an enviable reputation in the refurbishment sector where non-standard sizes, profiles and transitions are common place. You cannot simply walk into timber merchants and buy these off the shelf. They have to be custom measured, digitised, drawn on computers and CNC’d to the exact requirements.”

All of Haldane’s expertise was called upon in this project, which required the Haldane contract management team to carry out the dismantling and removal of the existing staircase as well as managing the design, manufacture and installation of the metalwork.

Forrester added, “Managing complete projects is something we rarely accept, however it was a crucial element of the contract with a prestigious client who did not feel equipped to manage the project on their own. We were therefore delighted to work with Annandale Design as contract partners having established a strong working relationship through previous jobs.”

Haldane’s timber machining expertise was also called upon to manufacture curved skirtings to match the profile of the existing material in the rest of the house.

Forrester concluded, “We are often called upon to manufacture small sections of skirtings and mouldings to match existing hand carved timber work which fit awkward or irregular areas, such as curved walls and corners.
