Just to prove that Haldane isn’t all about intricate profiles and complex components, Haldane’s latest project delivered the perfect finish for a £1million luxury home in London using a simple 70 x 45mm elliptical handrail.

Manufactured from Sapele and fitted on contemporary black metalwork, Haldane has added its stamp to the project with subtle finishing touches such as the rounded bull nose to the landing and the scrolled ram’s horn to finish at the bottom of the staircase.

However the end result only tells half the story. To deliver such a perfect finish, Haldane were required to rebate the elliptical handrail to fit snugly onto the metalwork.

Most architectural joinery firms would have to hand carve the rebate into the handrail onsite, a time consuming and labour intensive process. However, Haldane’s state of the art digital surveying equipment provided an exact footprint of the metalwork, from which the timber could be machined offsite and fitted quickly and easily on site.

Haldane UK’s Managing Director, Forrester Adam, explained “This project goes to show that even the most straight forward looking projects require a highly technical approach. Thankfully we have a highly experienced technical sales team who can advise on the best approach for any handrail or staircase project.”

He said, “Although we have a reputation for delivering being the company to turn to for the complex projects, our manufacturing capacity and our streamlined processed mean that we are highly competitive for the more straight-forward projects.”
