Handrail Master Class at North Glasgow College

Haldane UK has provided a master class in handrails as it manufactured and installed over 500 linear metres of profiled handrail as part of the £20million North Glasgow College development.

Manufactured in American White Oak, the timber handrail was mounted on a combination of steel core rail and structural glass balustrade throughout the new college development.

Working in conjunction with Annandale Design ,who manufactured and installed the metalwork and glass balustrades, Haldane used their surveying and installation expertise to carry out the installation to the superior standards the company is associated with.

Haldane UK's Managing Director explained, "Whilst we are often associated with the bespoke profiles or the more complex components, this project enabled us to demonstrate how competitive we can be with large runs of straight diameter handrails."

The key issue with large runs of diameter handrail is ensuring that the finished project runs smoothly without bumps and twists which can be caused by on site conditions.

He continued, " With our state of the art digital survey equipment and our installation expertise, we are able to tweak the manufacturing process to accommodate most issues with metalwork and our experienced craftsmen can make any necessary modifications during the installation to ensure a perfect finish every time."
