As with most materials, the wood's colour will change in time from exposure to natural light and heat. However, we endeavour to carefully select materials to colour match all contracts and therefore ensure that any change in colour is consistent. (back to top)

Steam Beech is not an endangered species. Haldane (UK) only source materials from internationally recognised suppliers who harvest, replant and carefully manage their stock to ensure continued availability for future generations. (back to top)

7. Can Steam Beech be used externally?
No, Steam Beech is a very perishable material and would require to be treated every month to withstand the weather conditions. (back to top)

8. Will it shrink?
All of our stocks of Steam Beech have been kiln dried to prevent movement, however, wood is a natural product that lives and breathes. It is therefore susceptible to movement in extreme circumstances through factors such as direct heat and light (back to top)

9. Are there any restrictions on lengths available?
Steam Beech is only available in harvested lengths of 4.000 Linear Metres. (back to top)
