Haldane UK has demonstrated its expertise once more by completing
what Haldane consider to be the most complex handrail project they
have ever undertaken.
The project in question was a stunning spiral staircase fitted
with American White Oak handrails in a luxury private dwelling in
London completed to the original design proposals of the architect:
Fayette Associates
The staircase, which was elaborated by Bisca, one of the most innovative
designers in Europe, incorporated fabulous glass balustrading and
profiled handrail to create a spectacular end result.
However as Haldane’s Business Development Manager, Scott
Kennedy, explained, the manufacturing and installation of the timber
handrails was not your 'run of the mill' project.
"The timber handrails section was specifically designed to
follow the glass line however the complexity of the pitch and turns
of the staircase left no room for error in some of the most complex
components we have manufactured in the 20 year period we have been
manufacturing handrails."
Haldane UK is the only timber machining company that can cope with
complex components such as raking to raking wreaths where the timber
handrail twists and turns through 180 degrees.
Scott continued, “This latest project took our advanced technology
to a new level. We had to add another dimension to our market leading
manufacturing capability with a component that was a raking to raking
and wreathing swan neck.”
The finished product is one which Haldane is immensely proud of
with a number of special wreaths and swan necks as well as its usual
array of long ramps, drop ends and 180 degree bends.
