The Mount, Cupar

When the owners embarked on the extension and refurbishment of the impressive 2 storey Georgian home in the North East of Fife, they decided that they wanted to create a feature staircase that would make a real impact to the entrance of their home.

The client was very clear in the specifications of the staircase and even had sketched their own proposed design for the handrail profile and the spindles.

And, to create a staircase that was truly eye catching, the owners opted for the timber to be American White Oak, giving a warm, luxurious feel without being overbearing.

Using Haldane UK's unrivalled experience and expertise in handrail and stair component design and construction, the company's design team worked with the clients to turn their concepts into reality. The end result was this beautiful sweeping helical staircase and atrium area finished off in style with luxurious wreaths.

Haldane designed, manufactured and installed the handrails, spindles and associated components parts for the staircase.

Haldane UK's Production Manager, Dave Sinclair, said "The staircase was particularly challenging as the main handrail section not only has a steep drop but it also twists significantly to meet with the spiral wreath end."

He continued, "The end product however is one that we are absolutely delighted with and from the feedback we have had from our clients, they are just as pleased."
