Haldane’s Par-fect Staircase Service Click on image for slideshow Haldane UK has installed its own brand of luxury in what will become one of the world's most sought after properties this summer – a 3 storey town house with spectacular views over the 18th green at St Andrews’ Old Course – the venue for this year’s British Open. Haldane manufactured and installed the stunning feature staircase from American White Oak which was stained to match the timber features in the interior design. Working in conjunction with Farmore Interiors, Haldane’s brief was to create a smooth and continuous handrail solution with stair components that would fit with the grand interiors of the property. The end result was an eye-catching staircase that incorporates 55mm square fluted spindles, oversized 110mm newel posts and superb 102 x 80mm profiled handrails. Whilst existing factors prevented a total continuous handrail, Haldane’s creativity and manufacturing excellence delivered a truly patriotic solution that delighted the client. Haldane UK’s Business Development Manager, Scott Kennedy, “With such a unique property we wanted to turn a restriction into a fantastic feature and so we designed ball tops in a unique thistle design that suit the staircase and the property down to a tee.” Haldane also ensured that the finishing touches to the staircase complemented the overall design by manufacturing and installing stringer mouldings and a custom designed base plate to seamless integrate the new staircase with the existing features in the property.
