It's a science as well as an art form!

Glasgow Science Centre is one of the most prestigious developments in Scotland of the new millennium. The building, which will be the home of Scotland's first ever 3-D cinema, has involved some of the best craftsmanship and design companies in Britain. Haldane UK, manufacturers of quality handrails and glazing beads has played a key role. The company has supplied nearly 100 metres of handrails both inside and outside the building.

Haldane UK Ltd is fitting St Beech handrails for the internal work and Iroko for all external handrails.

The contract involves installing handrails to elliptical staircases at a fixed angle. The main contractor on the project is Carillion Buildings and the architectural metalworker is Kilmarnock based firm Annandale Design (UK) Ltd.

Said Haldane's Director Forrester Adam: "This is an extremely exciting project. The public anticipation for the opening of the science centre is huge and we are only glad to have played a key role in the development of the centre. Phase 3 is yet to be completed and I am glad to say that Haldane UK will have a part to play in this as well."

He continued "Being part of this project serves to illustrate how the products created and installed by our highly-skilled workforce can bring quality and distinction to a project."
