Haldane UK Receives Royal Visit

Haldane UK rolled out the red carpet today as it received a royal seal of approval from His Royal Highness, The Duke of York, who visited the company’s headquarters in Glenrothes, Fife.

The visit followed on from Haldane UK’s success in winning the prestigious Queens Award for Enterprise in 2006 which recognised the company’s continuous development of the equipment and technology used in the architectural joinery sector.

As well as presenting the company with its Queens Award, His Royal Highness will also conducted the formal opening of Haldane UK’s factory extension which will see the company double the size of its existing premises.

His Royal Highness was able to see first hand how Haldane UK has become one of the most advanced timber manufacturers in the world with its investment in state of the art technology coupled with the company’s manufacturing efficiency programme which was recognised by the DTi.

Haldane UK’s Managing Director, Forrester Adam, said “Winning the Queen’s Award for Enterprise is one of the highest achievements any UK company can be awarded and receiving the accolade from His Royal Highness was the icing on the cake for us.”

He continued, “The visit was a very special day for everyone associated with Haldane UK. His Royal Highness was particularly interested in the technology we used to manufacture the intricate timber balustrading involved in the restoration of Queen’s Prayer Room following the fire at Windsor Castle.”

Haldane UK has become one of the most advanced timber manufacturers in the world manufacturing luxurious timber handrails, components and glazing beads following an investment of over £500,000 in CNC technology normally used for machining aluminium and a bold change in business strategy.

Haldane’s technology and expertise has revolutionised the UK timber components industry. The company can now machine and replicate complex timber components to accuracies of within one quarter of a millimetre in just 45 minutes - a process that takes competitors 1.5 days to hand carve.
